Dental bridges are made up of two or more crowns for the teeth on either side of a site where a tooth is missing. These two or more anchoring teeth are called the abutment teeth and they have a false tooth in between. The false tooth/teeth are called pontics. Bridges can be made from a variety of materials including porcelain, metal, zirconia, or even gold.
Check-Ups (Dental Exams)
Dental exams are necessary preventative care that shouldn’t be neglected. A dental exam consists of the dentist examining your teeth and gums visually and through studying radiographs to look for any tooth decay, cavities, tartar buildup, or changes in dental health. They also play a role in preventing other harmful illnesses that can impact the overall health of your body. . It is recommended that adults have a dental exam once a year and children every 6 months
Dental sealants are thin coatings that are painted on the chewing surfaces of the back teeth (molars) that prevent cavities (tooth decay) for many years. Sealants protect the chewing surfaces from cavities by covering them with a protective shield that blocks out germs and food.
Composite fillings are made from a tooth-coloured material that blends seamlessly with your natural tooth, making them virtually invisible. The material is slightly flexible resulting in reduced drilling and preserving more of your natural tooth. The resin material in composite fillings creates a strong bond to your tooth.
A dental crown is a hollow artificial tooth that is also referred to as a “cap.” It is cemented in place over a tooth to restore its shape, size, strength, and approve its appearance. The crown can be made from a variety of materials including porcelain, metal, zirconia, or even gold.
A dental implant is an artificial root made of titanium metal. It is inserted into the jawbone to replace the root of the natural tooth. An artificial replacement tooth (dental crown) is attached to the implant and the implant acts as an anchor to hold the replacement tooth in place.
A digital impression eliminates the need for an unpleasant and distasteful impression of the teeth. It uses digital scanning or lasers to create detailed images of the teeth, gums, as well as hard and soft tissues in the mouth.
Endodontic (Root Canal) Treatment
Root canal treatment is designed to eliminate bacteria from the infected root canal, prevent reinfection of the tooth and save the natural tooth. The inflamed or infected pulp is removed, and the inside of the tooth is carefully cleaned and disinfected, then filled and sealed.
An extraction means to have a tooth removed, usually because of disease, trauma or crowding.
Invisalign treatment allows you to transform your smile discreetly and comfortably with virtually-invisible, removable braces. Invisalign aligners are completely transparent, and custom made to gradually straighten your teeth without using any metal wires or brackets.
Night guards are an appliance that is custom made to fit over the teeth and are worn at night to help prevent bruxism (grinding of the teeth). They work by putting a barrier between your teeth. When the jaw is clenched, the night guard helps to lighten the tension and give cushion to the muscles in the jaw. This cushioning not only helps to prevent face and jaw pain, but also protects the enamel of your teeth.
Oral Cancer Screening
This procedure is conducted during your regular check-ups. Early detection or oral cancer can improve the chances of successful treatment. It is recommended that patients who use tobacco products have an oral cancer screening at least twice a year.
Dental cleanings are needed to keep your teeth healthy. A registered dental hygienist carefully removes dental tartar and plaque that has accumulated on the teeth. This protects them from cavities or dental caries as well as other tooth and gum problems.
Veneers are thin custom-made shells of tooth-coloured materials that are attached to the front surface of the tooth to improve appearance. They are made of porcelain and do not change colour or stain.
Sedation dentistry uses medication to help patients relax during dental procedures. The patient remains conscious and is able to breathe on their own and vital signs are monitored closely.
Zoom Whitening is a bleaching process done in-office to lighten discoloration of enamel and dentin. Hydrogen peroxide is broken down, oxygen enters the enamel and dentin to bleach the stained substances, leaving the structure of the tooth unchanged.
Wisdom Teeth Extractions
Wisdom tooth extraction is a surgical procedure to remove one or more wisdom teeth, which are the four permanent adult teeth located at the back corners of the mouth on the top and bottom.
